This weekend lionizes an important date on the cycling world as the hundredth edition of Ronde van Vlaanderen is all set to happen on 3rd April, Sunday.
Qhubeka’s Team Dimension Data will be part of this chunk of cycling history when African team lines up at the beginning in Brugge.
For a lot of people, the Ronde van Vlaanderen is the acme of the Spring Classics season and for cycling fans of Belgium, it is certainly is the pinnacle of the game. With, more than hundred hundred years of tradition, the Ronde has become one of the most sought after victories in cycling and images from the race can be found posted on many a young cycling fan’s bedroom wall.
Again, the parcours that includes the legendary Hellingen climbs and cobblestoned paths of Oudenaarde have set the stage for yet another classic. Paterberg, Oude-Kwaremont, Koppenberg as well as Taaienberg are only a few of 18 hellingen that would be finished in this year’s 256km Tour of Flanders.
Qhubeka’s Team Dimension Data will start the Ronde following a strong performance at the Gent-Wevelgem last week, with a similar team constituting their roster as that in Gent-Wevelgem. Edvald Boasson Hagen would headline the team with Nic Dougall, Tyler Farrar, Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, Matt Brammeier, Jay Thomson, Bernhard Eisel and Mark Renshaw finishing the 8-man team.
