  1. @brickdumdum shut up thats my dads friend ur talkin about and its the englishes own fault coz they turned him down so keep ur failed opinions 2 urself

  2. You see, that’s what I like about cycling, any kind of cycling. It’s so unpredictable an exciting. Love it!

@auxradar haha, yes, this is indeed the modern day equivalent of tortoise vs hare fable!

  4. without starting an argument with ericslife ” i sometimes let up when ive beat someone” well dont get me wrong but you havent beaten anyone till you cross the line first. But I do agree with eric that on a friendly wager or training or fun events yes hold back asits all about the fun but……… euro elite championships lol fable of tortoise and hare comes to mind

  5. I agree with jacobschmid. i sometimes let up when I beat some one just as a courtesy but have had the exact same thing happen to me as well. hoy was clearly stronger. but at the worlds,, make sure you keep him behind !!! its not like Hoy has much to prove…

  6. Im a track cyclist and to me being a sportsman is putting 100% in 100% of the time quite frankly if someone slowed up in front of me as courtesy id be quite offended its almost as annoying as someone running backwards in front of you saying “chin up old chap”. The measure of a great sportsman is winning and losing with dignity and respect for your fellow opponent but at all times put your best in. If youre beaten by a mile then you aspire to win . Intelligence won here “you snooze you lose”

  7. @kanxenxunga
No. you should go out and try your absolute best, regardless of what the other is doing. it definitely doesn’t fall under “common courtesy”.

  8. @kanxenxunga .. yer its definitely an odd situation, but no i dont believe that felix should have eased up or anything like that.. Chris simply should have been able to time it better, it was simply a bad mistake made by sir chris. I guess everyone has a bad day someday.

  9. @Jacobschmid …just a thought, should it be common courtesy to NOT catch someone on the line if they are better than you and if they have eased off the gas as sir chris did here? cos we have an odd situation here where sir chris was trying not to make felix look stupid, but ends up looking like a lifetime of stupid stupids all lined up next to each other. you would think he could have pretended to have cramp, or mechanical probs or something, or fall over like they do in football.

  10. it wasnt that he didnt respect the other guy, its a common courtesy in sprinting, especially when your that much better than the other guy, to not absolutely smash them…. firstly so that you dont make them look stupid… and secondly to save your energy.. chris just mistimed this one… thats all, he wasnt trying to be cocky or anything like anyone else is saying on here. he was just trying to be courteous .

  11. Felix English deserves the win more than Hoy, Hoy didnt respect Felix and under-estimated his ability! well done Felix, you’ve shown how to race and done Ireland proud!

  12. lol, no need for conspiracy theory, i think he just thought he’d be able to cruise in half a bike length ahead and save his energy for later. oops. LOLOL

  13. He was paid. At 0:18 Hoy sees him coming and still doesn’t speed up although he still could have kept English off but he waits until it is too late. Very suspicious!
